When we arrived on the island in May 2023 there were few electric bikes and we heard they were going to be banned so more people used the horse drawn carts. I recently got updated about electric bikes becoming legalised https://radarlombok.co.id/bupati-klu-batalkan-perdes-ketertiban-umum-gili-indah.html

headline translates to: ANJUNG – The KLU Transportation Service is considering legalizing thousands of bicycles currently operating on Gili Meno, Gili Trawangan and Gili Air (Matra). Head of Land Traffic at the KLU Transportation Service, currently his party is collecting data on the number of bicycles on the three islands, both licensed and unlicensed. “Yesterday it started on Gili Air. "After this we plan to go to Gili Trawangan," he said, Wednesday (8/11).

This is a huge practical step towards moving away from the horse drawn cart system. Thank you all for assisting the cause along the way, I continue to update the electric transport society with our support in the way of our petition updates and comments along with the petition, which are so powerful for the cause! We need to keep momentum and continue to support the electric society press those in power for the urgent changes to continue to be made!
