Our petition was sent to the police and local government 20/7/2023 along with submissions from electric bike association. The electric bike association and the news article below have confirmed the government will replace the horse drawn cart system with electric cars. The electric bike association will hold the government to account to progress the changes swiftly.

North Lombok - The North Lombok Regency Government (KLU) will replace cidomo transportation (a type of dokar) in the tourist area of ​​Gili Trawangan with electric vehicles. The electric vehicle that will be used is an electric car as is commonly found on golf courses.
This statement was made by KLU Regent Djohan Sjamsu, Thursday (27/7/2023). The KLU Regency Government believes that the use of cidomo which uses horse power as a means of transportation on Gili Trawangan is often protested by foreign tourists because it is considered torturing animals.
