Foxes were terrorised by a pack of 51 dogs during a shameful hunt in Clare.
An Irish Field report focused on a County Clare Foxhounds hunt that took place near Shannon Airport.
The 8 November 2024 report outlined that the the pack of hounds was brought to a hill overlooking the airport where they found and chased a fox: “Hounds drew the almost endless cover and, with encouraging calls from our huntsman, it was the second season bitch Hornet who opened and a fine dog fox appeared and set his mask for...the furthest point of the peninsula reaching far out into the estuary.”
According to the Irish Field report, the number of dogs brought out was “something of a record”.
During the hunting season, the County Clare Foxhounds terrorise foxes twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays.
Shame on the Irish Government for allowing this bloodsport to continue. A RED C opinion poll, commissioned by the Irish Council Against Blood Sports, shows that a 77% majority (in both urban and rural areas) agree that the government should ban fox hunting. The poll found that just 12 per cent disagree with a ban.
