Labour Party TD Conor Sheehan has promised to back a ban on cruel fox hunting in Ireland.
Responding to correspondence from the Irish Council Against Blood Sports about Ruth Coppinger TD's Animal Health & Welfare (Ban On Fox Hunting) Bill, Deputy Sheehan (Limerick City) stated: “I will support this Bill.”
Deputy Sheehan is the Labour Party Spokesperson on Housing, Heritage and Local Government. He was first elected to Dail Eireann in the 2024 general election and was previously a Limerick City and County Councillor.
On 28 May 2025, he was among the 113 TDs who voted in favour of the introduction to Dail Eireann of the “Ban Fox Hunting” bill.
The bill is set to proceed to second stage but it has been reported that the government TDs plan to oppose the bill at the next stage - please scroll down for action alert and help convince them to back the bill.
