On August 9, 2014 Tanzanians in DMV had a community election, which turned out to be unfair and unjust. The two presidential candidates, Liberatus Mwangombe and Idd Sandaly, happened to have total votes exceeding the voters. 

FACTS ABOUT THE ELECTION ACCORDING TO ELECTION COMMITTEE 

Registered voters 586
Absentee ballots 14 
Registered voters who did not vote at all 150 
Voters who came to the polling station were 430 
Absentee ballots Liberatus 9 Idd Sandaly 5 
Results from the polling station Mr. Sandaly had 231 Mr. Liberatus had 214. 

The total number of voters who came out at the polling station was 430. When Idd and Liberatus’ votes were added they exceeded the number of voters who came out to vote (214+231= 445). There was discrepancy of 15 votes! This was the main reason Mr. Safari said the election is “FRAUD” and “VOID”. 

Lets do some math before proceeding 

Idd (231+5)/430X100= 54.88% 
Libeyb (214+9)/430X 100= 51.86% 

Plus the candidate’s %: 54.88+51.86= 106.74%. How do we explain the percentage that exceeding 100%!!!!

Mr. Safari who is Election Committee chairman announced that the election is “VOID”. He was forced to announce the winner by Idd Sandaly Supporters, some of Election Committee members, some of former DMV leaders and some of the Board of Trustee members. He stood his ground and insisted that; this election is VOID and I cannot announce the winner; however, I’ll just announce the numbers. 

Mr. Hamza Mwamoyo who is a Board of Trustee chairman collected all the votes from both agents. When asked for re-count, he refused for the ground that we do not have time. He asked Liberatus’ agent, Alawi Omar, to ask Liberatus to call him for recount. Liberatus called him. Hamza never responds. Today is 6th day after election and Mr. Mwamoyo is yet to return Liberatus call.

Mr. Mwamoyo announced the results the next day, Sunday, giving Idd Sandary victory with no explanation. We questioned his legitimacy to announce the results, yet he isn’t the Election Committee chairman. On the third day after 36 hours Mr. Safari came out and announced the results on unofficial blog, Vijimambo. He came out with numbers, which brought more confusions than ever. 

Mr. Safari final report says; 

Registered Voters 586 
Absentee ballots 14 (Libe 9, Idd 5) 
Members who did not vote at all 150 
Members who came at the polling station 436 (Note the change from 430 to 436 on the third day). 
Libe had 214 and Idd had 231 (231+214=245).

Now 9 votes discrepancy! All these were done on Sunday without neither Liberatus nor his agent being involved. 

Lets do the math again 

Add; absentee ballots+ members who didn’t vote+ members who came at the polling station= the total must be Registered voters (586)

14+150+436+= 600??? THE MATH DOESN’T ADD UP! WHY THE TOTAL ISN’T REGISTERED VOTERS (586) BUT SOMETHING ELSE (600) 

This means; 14 people were not active members (voted against constitution), plus 9 discrepancy votes (14+9= 23) 

Conclusion; this election was FRAUDed with 23 votes and Mr. Safari first reaction that the election is "VOID" was CORRECT.
