100+ Signatures and Upcoming Board Meeting

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that has signed and shared the petition so far. We are well on our way to working towards a more transparent and democratic #BallState. All #Indiana residents have a stake in the behaviors of a board which runs a publicly funded institute of higher education. Over 120 emails have now been sent to the Board of Trustees with the words of this petition. We must press forward with pressure on our administration to be held accountable for its loss of millions of dollars, its covert ousting of the president and secret search for his successor, the control these mostly non-elected officials have over our school and community, and the implications adding a Koch funded center on our campus would have. Part of this will be attending the Board meetings next week which will be in Muncie at 830am but then in Fishers that afternoon. The Board does not have another public meeting until the week of fall finals in December so it is imperative we have as many students, faculty, and community members at their morning meetings in the Student Center as possible. It is a shame they are having one of the only two regular fall meetings in Fishers. The idea that this is transparency is lost on me here. Here is the link to the event and we hope to try and figure out a way to carpool to Fishers for the regular meeting in the afternoon: https://www.facebook.com/events/283032202072398/ If you can go in the morning PLEASE COME. If you can go in the afternoon please try. We cannot let the Board hide from the community and its concerns and if we have a large presence, perhaps our petition will be taken more seriously. Sincerely, Morgan Aprill, PSA secretary (Enclosed is a nice informational article about the Kochs and higher education. You may notice how similar our current situation is to the one which occurred at Florida State)
