We have an update on the temporary closure and planned works at Balfe Park. To minimise the impact on the community we have made a decision not to proceed with the higher level of maintenance care (which require the ground closure). Instead, minor patching and top dressing works will be undertaken to address the holes and bare patches, whilst keeping the ground open for community use.
 
This decision has been made following further investigation effort undertaken into the works required to address the drainage / water pooling issues in the south east corner of the sports ground at Balfe Park. To address these issues the levels of the entire ground will need to be altered requiring full closure of the ground. It is likely these works will be undertaken in 2026/27, subject to Council budget processes, with the ground closed during the spring and summer months. Community consultation will be undertaken prior to the commencement of this project.
 
To avoid impacting the community with closure of the ground two years in a row only minor patching and top dressing works will be undertaken in 2025 to address the holes and bare patches, whilst keeping the ground open for community use.
