Dear fellow petitioners, I am grateful for your ongoing support. My apologies to you for not having been able to effect more significant changes for this school year. Unfortunately, for Minister Eggen and Premier Notley, we petitioners are not going away until they validate our concerns and implement changes to fully stop the discovery math curriculum and the Inspiring Education initiative. Unfortunately for us, the bulk of the signatures on the math and education petitions were signed during former Education Minister Jeff Johnson and Gordon Dirks' terms. Because of the nearly 16,000 signatures that confronted Jeff Johnson, he effected some changes immediately after meeting with our team. Because Minister Eggen and his team haven't yet felt the impact of being inundated by thousands of letters, they have nonchalantly dismissed our concerns and even reneged on a promise to meet with myself in favour of meeting with other stakeholders. Therefore, for this year, we have created a website (thanks to Cynthia Cheung and Michael Smith). http://www.albertansforeducation.com/ The purpose of the website is the following: 1. To continue to apply pressure on the Education Minister and Premier through your local MLA. If you may select the CONTACT YOUR MLA and sign the template letter, I would be so grateful. (You can choose to edit it as you wish). The letter will be cc'd to the Education Minister and Premier. 2. A site to gather your stories and accounts of what is happening in our schools under the Inspiring Education and continued discovery math curriculum. 3. To provide information and resources for parents so they can take the necessary steps to protect the quality of their children's education.
