Back to Basics Learning
The Issue
Technology has taken over, which is okay in certain areas of life. Unfortunately, our schools have gone to the extreme with it's usage. The mental strain and anxiety it's causing was brought up to me by several students 3 of them being my own children. They have over a dozen different apps, and none of them really know how to use them. They are expected to do paperwork in class, upload it onto one of their dozen apps and continue down the line for each subject. That is stupid. They don't even have textbooks in class or at home. They are forced to go to an app and bring it up that way. Students turn in paperwork in person, but then aren't given a grade because they didn't turn the same paper in online. That's not fair. My students have IEPs so handling everything online is chaos. Their learning disabilities come into play and they are overwhelmed, confused and annoyed. Most teachers I've spoken to also dislike using these apps. Basically, a bunch of old people are getting cutbacks from these companies to use them and we get to suffer. I'm fine with under 4 apps for school, anymore than that is completely unnecessary.
Children aren't even allowed to use the libraries anymore. Lunch is locked down, no roaming and hanging out with friends outside. We lock our kids up and treat them worse than inmates. They at least gets time outside and breaks for fresh hair and socializing.
The more freedom we take the more they rebel.
We need to get rid of the apps, go back to paper and pencil. Library for researching should be allowed. More breaks for the kids to catch their breath and live.
Less technology, more nature and being young kids.
