The Black Mountain burros are in real trouble. The BLM exaggerates their numbers, and local governance is promoting hunting them. Yet, this herd is the only herd that remains genetically viable. A roundup of this herd would would put the nail in the coffin of wild burros in America in our lifetime. Ginger Kathrens did a wonderful job of offering a plan for their protection. Officially name the Black Mountain HMA a protected burro range.
