Exciting validation of Thomas Sowell’s reach!

Frederic Bastiat and Thomas Sowell

A powerful new op-ed celebrating the lives and ideas of Frederic Bastiat and Thomas Sowell has been published across numerous California local newspapers — including the San Diego Union-Tribune, Orange County Register, Los Angeles Daily News, San Bernardino Sun, Pasadena Star-News, San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Press-Telegram, Daily Breeze, and more from the Southern California News Group.

Written by Richard Boddie and Sal Rodriguez, the piece highlights Sowell’s profound insights on merit, incentives, trade-offs, and the dangers of centralized power — right alongside the great 19th-century economist Bastiat. It recommends Sowell’s Basic Economics, A Conflict of Visions, and Jason Riley’s biography Maverick.

This kind of mainstream, multi-paper coverage in California is a wonderful testament to how Sowell’s ideas continue to resonate far beyond academic circles. It’s exactly the kind of broad cultural recognition he deserves.
