Happy 96th Birthday Dr. Thomas Sowell! 🎂

On June 30, one of America’s greatest living minds turns 96. Thomas Sowell’s ideas have shaped generations — teaching us the power of empirical thinking, the tragedy of the anointed, the value of trade-offs, and the importance of judging policies by results, not intentions. His books and columns will endure for centuries, lighting the path toward clearer vision and freer lives.

But Dr. Sowell himself is constrained by the limits of earthly life. That is precisely why now is the moment to award him the Presidential Medal of Freedom — while he can still receive and enjoy this well-deserved honor in person. His ideas will outlive all of us, but the man who gave them to the world should be celebrated while he walks among us.

Countless everyday Americans, along with public figures from across the country, have already stepped forward — signing petitions, making videos, and publicly calling for this well-deserved honor. The momentum continues to grow.

This week, South African economist Phumlani M. Majozi (Senior Economist and Director of the African Markets Institute) launched a special video series titled "A Discussion on Thomas Sowell's Legacy" to celebrate Sowell’s 96th birthday. First episode is out now.  Second episode will premier tomorrow (June 29} at 12:30a.m. (ET).

This isn’t just about one award. It’s about honoring a lifetime of intellectual courage, honesty, and service to truth. From his Marine Corps days to decades at the Hoover Institution, Sowell has shown what it means to pursue knowledge without apology.
