Social media has created an uneven playing field when it comes to veterinary reviews. Unfortunately due to privacy laws veterinarians cannot give their side of the story unless the owners sign a release statement. As many of us know this rarely happens and all we can say is "no comment" to the media. With our silence, clients claim we are guilty. Our goal is to create an addendum to the privacy laws in regards to false and malicious statements written and/or reported where owners forfeit their privacy and therefore automatically allow veterinarians to provide details to the public regarding ongoing cases. This change will allow veterinarians to fight back against online campaigns, harassment, and give proper medical details to the public.
