Under latest changes to the Citizenship legislation currently sitting before parliament any Australian charged under the Foreign Incursion Act who has a dual citizenship or the ability to attain dual citizenship may be stripped of their Australian Citizenship. This would include any Australian in the YPG, who has been in the YPG or any other group currently fighting Daesh in Syria or Iraq. It may also potentially extend to Australians who worked in Iraq and Afghanistan as Private Military Contractors for foreign companies.
" and added foreign incursion and recruitment to the list of scheduled offences."
In addition a conviction is not necessary for the Attorney General and Immigration Minister to approve citizen cancellation. Anyone can have their citizenship cancelled without warning, notice or reason at any time if the Minister deems it to be in the national interest. If you are an Australian with dual nationality or are able to claim dual nationality you are considered a second class citizen under this legislation.
