The Australian Government are dropping 50 poisoned sausages containing the poison 1080 every kilometre in areas where cats roam free & plan on killing 2 million cats by 2020.

When the cats ingest the sausages they will experience a number of symptoms due to the accumulation of citrate in the body, which is a serum calcium chelator. Symptoms are neurological & cardiac in nature & progress several hours before death.

Symptoms include hallucinations, vomiting, involuntary evacuation of the bowel & bladder, salivation, respiratory issues, convulsions, organ congestion & eventually death.

The use of 1080 is banned in many countries it is cruel & inhumane.

Like Dingos and hybrid wild dogs cats are hunted in Australia using leg hold traps to detain them until hunters check the traps and shoot them. 
These animals can be held in these traps for considerable lengths of time before being shot, sometimes attacked by predators, others have been documented trying to chew their legs off in an effort to escape.

Stop this cruel cull now & divert funds & energy into humane population control. Cat proof fencing, TNR & rescue should be considered.

A study should be undertaken to determine the impact environments altered for housing, agriculture or mining have on the cats in that environment, how they are displaced & the impact that displacement has on the eco system.
