I was reflecting last night and this morning as I was reviewing every single FANTASTIC entry into our wholefood recipe challenge (I announced the winners on my page www.facebook.com/getafreshstart this morning) on all that happened years ago when I decided to take on and question the biggest national charity in the country. I was 22 when I took this on, extremely unwell and ANGRY. I was angry we were getting information that wasn't based on truth and science but in fact on corporate greed. That the Heart Foundation website literally said "sugar as a nutrient is only a concern in terms of dental carries", "if your kid won't drink plain milk give them flavoured" and other pearlers. The Tick of Approval which went on foods like margarine and Milo Cereal which contains 27% refined sugar. It was reviewed but IMMEDIATELY after they brought out the Health Star Rating System.. soooo frustrating after years spending my time spreading the word and asking for change. This is why I've started a NEW petition to boycott this system, please sign it here bit.ly/scrapthestars We managed to get the support and signatures of 57,449 incredible and passionate people globally for the Heart Foundation Petition. This time we are going for 100k to really get noticed and get our Government to WAKE UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING!!!. I organised a rally in Brisbane and we delivered the signatures in person to the Heart Foundation Head Office. They refused to answer any of our quetions and it was on Channel 9 & 10.
