Thank you to the many, many people who wrote to Greg Hunt last week. I was privileged to read countless personal messages about how this PPE crisis is affecting healthcare workers (HCWs) and their families. We managed to capture just a handful of these powerful messages into this video.
You can read the quotes from HCWs and the people that love them in the video, but here are a few that really stood out:
I work in one of the major public hospitals in Melbourne... our PPE is not protecting me and my colleagues. We need to be issued with fully covering PPE.
I am a Nurse... I am 58 years old thus approaching a vulnerable age bracket...I feel the least [the government] can do is ensure that I have the highest possible level of protection available
My daughter is a [healthcare worker]...several of her colleagues have tested positive for the Coronavirus. She scans Covid patients in ICU and lives in constant fear...As a parent I am concerned about the inadequate supply of PPE.”
Over 213,000 of us who signed this petition already know why this is so important. We don’t need convincing. I honestly believe that there are many more Australians out there who care about healthcare workers, they just need to hear from those on the frontline that this is an ongoing crisis.
