GREYHOUND RACING PARTICIPANTS PLEDGE:

We the undersigned ARE THE RULE, NOT THE EXCEPTION... for every bad person in our sport of greyhound racing, you'll find 2000 good ones!

For too long our sport has been unfairly attacked, and because 80% of participants live in rural areas, and in our own wonderful world of racing, most of the attacks went undefended. Lie after lie, assumptions, misconceptions, and all the anti-racing propaganda has been all unfounded and based on not fully understanding our 100 year old sport. 

We have been let down by lack of support from our regulators, with no record of a greyhounds full life cycle, which has created these false figures of mass euthanasia, and also by lack of promotion of truths to the general public. We have been a society that has never been treated fairly. We have never had what we are entitled to. We have never had that money to make welfare the priority it should be.

We have had to learn the hard way about today's expectations on our industry, and for the past 18 months we have made very effective changes that has and will continue to deliver outstanding animal welfare results, via worlds best practice in breeding, rearing, education and training... we will also continue to invest in ways to improve the re-homing of greyhounds, and improve on our track injury rate of 1.7%, and track death rate of 0.14%.

We the undersigned pledge to be more vigilant and proactive in stamping out the 1 in 2000 rule and law breakers, the 1 in 2000 animal abusers, the 1 in 2000 that have created this dark cloud over our livelihoods, and has put in doubt the future of thousands of Australian families... we the undersigned are the rule, not the exception, we keep or privately re-home our dogs, we repair injuries, we don't live bait nor do we condone it, we truly do love our dogs.

We the undersigned are the rule, not the exception... let us continue what we all want, reform and to exceed the Australian public's expectations.
