So to get his job at the OECD - which MOST people in Australia weren't happy about - Mathias Cormann cost ALL of us $380,000 or more than $11,000 a day - just for him to swan around the world gaining support for his bid in OUR 'private' RAAF plane.
But WAIT there's MORE! The Department of Foreign Affairs ALSO set up a campaign TASKFORCE of 8.5 full-time equivalent STAFF to SUPPORT his candidacy!
And THEN there's his accommodation - and that of his ENTOURAGE (and meals?) - for at LEAST the 34+ days he travelled from country to country which WE paid for - and let's be honest a privileged man who requires a 'private' PUBLICLY-FUNDED RAAF plane to take him around the world - is NOT going to stay in a $120 night motel room!
It was good enough for our WHOLE COUNTRY to be run by a video-linked National Cabinet in a world-wide pandemic - but NOT for a LNP ex-Minister to CAMPAIGN for a JOB?
But what is even WORSE than this? IF the Government manages to get its Claytons ICAC Bill rammed through Parliament - this major rort WILL NEVER be investigated by THEIR ICAC (Commonwealth 'Integrity' Commission).
Because rorts by/for ex-Politicians are NOT ILLEGAL under the Law and the Government/Christian Porter's Federal ICAC legislation is WRITTEN to ensure that unless it's a CRIME - THEIR ICAC is NOT allowed to investigate!
Does ANYONE still wonder WHY they kicked Helen Haines' Federal Integrity Commission Bill 2020 with its Code of Conduct OUT of OUR Parliament?
And WHY they are fighting tooth and nail to STOP Larissa Water's National Integrity Commission Bill EVER being PASSED by the House of Representatives?
I am currently having a break from SM because I suffer from the Black Dog and find it all becomes too much. I need some time to re-charge my 'batteries' and take on the world again.
