As the first rays of light creep slowly over the horizon, i cannot gather the strength to admire them. For while still beautiful to behold, they come bearing bitter poison; the knowledge that they do not now rise on a better country.
The weight of it bears heavy on a heart that, until yesterday, was so full of hope for the future. I thought we were better than this. That finally, things might change. That the lives of the many First Nations people who live at a standard well below the baseline of a civilised country, and who cry out to be listened to when they speak of the horrors they endure, might finally improve.
Instead, the dawn breaks on a nation which would rather those people be seen, but not heard. Paul Kelly asked us, "If not now, then when, if not us, then who"
We answered, "Not us, Never"
I don't think I'm alone in this. In feeling outrage that a few terrible people, led chiefly by Dutton, were able to aggressively and insistently lie to a whole country, and somehow that whole country just went along with it as though this wasn't the same man who voted against increasing education funding and did not want a Royal Commission into abuse against people with disabilities, who green lit the most invasive and anti democratic Terrorism legislation in Australian history and recommended peaceful protestors be denied income or deported.
(He did this again just a few days ago by the way)
If you're a supporter of this movement, you already know that this man has repeatedly used his power and influence to get things through to the keeper that help him or others like him, but yield enormous negative effects for the average Australian. If you needed any further confirmation however, just look to the referendum result.
Think about it. What did you or i, regular citizens, win when 60% of the country voted no? Nothing but more division, more hatred for people just for the colour of their skin. What did Dutton win? Why nothing less than a complete rejuvenation of his previously flagging public support.
There is a bulk of evidence, some of which is recorded in the last update, some of which you have seen with your own eyes, that Dutton is directly responsible for the manipulation of millions of people into voting against their own interests. And not just on the Voice Referendum either.
This is why we are here. This is why this movement exists, to teach others of what is going on and resist with all our strength. And that is what I now encourage you to do.
Yesterday, history called, and Australia, waylaid by lies, told it to go **** itself
