To date, over 400 of you have signed this petition. Thank you so much for your support which I greatly appreciate. This morning an excellent article by Pia Akerman appeared on page 7 of The Australian. In part, it reads: "A long-running push to see Australia Post use Wallenberg's image on a postage stamp so far has received a bureaucratic brush-off, dumbfounding his supporters, including Victorian MP Michael Danby. Mr Danby and fellow Jewish MPs Josh Frydenberg and Mark Dreyfus last month wrote to Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull seeking his help in negotiating around an Australia Post policy that specifies stamps can be issued only to commemorate 50th anniversaries and multiples of 50. Following an enquiry by The Australian, a spokesman for Mr Turnbull yesterday said the minister would write to Australia Post chairman John Stanhope asking for an exception to mark the 70th anniversary of Wallenberg's Hungarian mission. Mr Danby said that a stamp would show that 'the good guys of history are remembered'." Your signature on this petition lent strength to the case for an Australian Raoul Wallenberg stamp. I will keep you posted! Judi Schiff 2 July 2014
