Petition updateKeep CodeNext transition zones
out of our neighborhoodsTransects may be going away IN NAME ONLY

Austin NeighborAustin, TX, United States

1 Jul 2017
At the last Council work session before the July break, the CodeNext consultants proposed a change in nomenclature. Although the new proposal calls the residential zones RR and R1 to R4, this does not mean that the transect zones are gong away. This is a change in name only and may even mean further increases in density. The elimination of floor to area limits, increased number of residential units, and decreased compatibility protections are still proposed, particularly for the zones colored tan in the table. These zones are just as unacceptable in established neighborhoods as those that were named T3 and T4. The change in nomenclature only obscures the differences between the two types of zones.
