Neighbors-
Y'all did your part and elected Alison Alter on Tuesday. The message was Loud and Clear to City Hall, but Mayor Adler is choosing to ignore it and push the PUD through 3rd reading today with no regard for the mandate from the election(s) or for the obvious issues with the details of the PUD (see Statesman op-ed piece below for more on that).
I know we've asked an awful lot of you lately, but we need to rally again today to see if we can get the Mayor to push the "Pause" button so we can get the details sorted out after the Holidays, when the appropriate people are seated on the dais. The Mayor holds the key to the schedule.
Take a moment to let Mr. Adler and his colleagues know that we're watching this, and will hold him accountable when the inevitable flaws in the PUD are discovered. Right now, they have no clue whether the "affordable housing" will serve the rich or poor, whether the creek will flood, whether the pedestrian bridge over Shoal Creek is real or imaginary, what the impact will be on Bryker Woods Elementary or any of dozens of other issues.
Make your message simple and polite. Ask the Mayor to tap the brakes long enough to get this right.
