Communities and many workplaces are becoming much more employee/dog focused, research has shown that dog friendly work places and communities develop and nurture happier healthy worker/community/ employee relationships.

By allowing leashed dogs in one carriage on each train on the Auckland Rail Network commuters would be able to easily take their dog to work if their work place permitted. The elderly or car-less in the community could utilise more of the wonderful dog friendly parks around the greater Auckland area. With this one simple change Auckland Tranaport would be helping to develop a  much more  human/dog friendly environment. 

The “Rules” as I propose them (I obviously won’t be making the rules that will be up to Auckland Transport) 

Dogs must be on a leash at all times. 

To ensure safety of all passengers Auckland council animal bylaws must be adheard to. 

Owners are be responsible for their dogs behaviour.

Failure to comply owner will face fine/removal from the train. 

Dogs can only travel if they have a current regiatration with the local council. 

Dogs may only travel in the bike carriage of the train. 

Dogs are not allowed on the seats. 

To ensure the comfort of fellow passengers, that do not like dogs or have an allergy, the carriage that allows dogs would be clearly marked as a “dog friendly” carriage. 

I have travelled all over the world and dogs are allowed on the trains in the United States, Great Britain and Europe.
