This petition is to express the concerns of the wider dog owner community about a new proposed bylaw which seeks to implement a blanket ban on unleashed dogs across all Auckland dog parks and exercise areas. To a lot of people, their pets are essentially their children, and taking them out for a walk and to socialise with others is a traditional everyday way of life. I believe all dog owners would agree that the most exciting thing for their dog is a trip to the dog park where they get to roam free in a safe and controlled environment. Imposing a one size fits all ban across everything is convenient, but if it isn't broken then why the need to fix it? Stuff.co.nz has a poll going currently for this proposed bylaw where there is already 72% of respondents voting against it, this needs to be considered as the people have spoken.
