I have been visiting Kelly in prison for 10 years as a volunteer advocate with the California Coalition for Women Prisoners and I have been updating her by phone on her growing number of supporters. She has been moved to tears over and over again by our show of support. I visited with Kelly recently and she asked me to pass on this message: “I would like to thank everyone for your outpouring of love, light, and support. In my life I haven’t had a lot of support in anything, and in the crime I am accused of I was completely alone, even in my innocence and grief. So it is overwhelming to receive all of the love today, which I am so very thankful for. I hope my case brings attention to all those prosecuted for failing to leave an abusive relationship, and with your help I am now hoping for the miracle of freedom.” - Kelly Ann Savage It is always heartbreaking to leave Kelly after a prison visit, but I was comforted knowing that she had the news of your support and a stack of your supportive comments to read.
