In 2013, you made change happen on the frontlines of the Tour de France. On Feb 1, 2021, the story of what really happened behind the scenes during this petition—and the creation of La Course by Tour de France—was released as a book. STAND: A memoir on activism. A manual for progress hit the shelves worldwide. Over a thousand copies sold last week, we’re thrilled to see a book about women who stand up and fight for change is truly resonating with our society, today. 

The journey of advocating for equal opportunity isn’t pretty, though. STAND bares it all: global petitions, documentary films, secret meetings, bullying managers, benched careers, personal demons, brain injuries, devastating depression, inner peace and historic victories for equal opportunity. With unabashed honesty, irreverence, vulnerability, history and humor, this memoir-turned-manual on activism goes behind the scenes of what really happens when we stand up and fight for what we believe. And why we must.

While my name appears on our Change.org 2013 TdF petition, it was teamwork that delivered results. Our pressure group, Le Tour Entier—myself, Chrissie Wellington, Emma Pooley, Marianne Vos—was the nucleus. But YOUR signatures who made the world pay attention.
