I met the Secretary of State for Education. Here's what your 106,000 signatures did.

Yesterday, alongside the formidable Carole Gould of Killed Women , whose beautiful daughter Ellie Gould was murdered at 17 after leaving an abusive relationship and EVAW, we sat down with Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson to demand what you signed for, mandatory Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) up to age 18 rather than the current cap of 16. We also spoke to the BBC about the importance of prevention in ending violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Because of this campaign, the government has formally committed to our ask and has announced they will extend Relationships and Sex Education to 18 years old and make this change in the law but there is no timeline and that is not good enough.

Phillipson expressed personal commitment and promised to move swiftly. We will hold her to every word of that because 16–19 year olds face the highest rates of domestic abuse and stalking in the country. Every month this law doesn't exist is a month young people enter relationships without the education that could protect them, or save their lives.

Your signatures keep the pressure on, we will keep working to push the government to find a suitable legislative route to mandate RSE to 18 as soon as possible because delays cost lives.

Thank you for your support,

Faustine
