"We, the undersigned, ask the Cedar Rapids City Council to no longer provide financial incentives to projects that involve demolishing our city’s historic buildings. Historic properties provide a sense of place and give Cedar Rapids its unique character and identity, while serving as economic assets for our community. Developers receiving incentives who choose to build in a historic district or where a building on, or eligible, for the National Register of Historic Places is located should be required to incorporate those structures into the development or move the building, at their own expense."
