Thank you everyone for supporting of this petition. Over 59,000 of you have signed to save Bewl Water Local Wildlife Site which resulted in some great coverage on ITV News Meridian last week. This has led to an invitation to meet with Southern Water next week to discuss our concerns.

When asked in the piece whether Bewl Events was looking to build a Centre Parcs type facility, unfortunately the spokesperson said not “in the near future”, which I think demonstrates they have plans for even further development at this Local Wildlife Site.

If you want to help and stop this major development at a Local Wildlife Site, you can object to the latest development application here - Wealden Planning Portal. More information here - www.savebewl.com.

Not only does Bewl Events intend to build something like Centre Parcs in the future, I think the current development plans already constitute a holiday village, which is inappropriate in a Local Wildlife Site within an AONB. Bewl submitted each development to planning separately to create a holiday village by stealth and circumvent tougher planning requirements that look to protect this important wildlife site and the environment.
