Bragtown residents!
Last year the BCA New Development team successfully fended off a huge development project that would have brought more gentrification, displacement, and rising property taxes to our neighborhood. Now, the developers are submitting a new plan to develop the same land, and we are calling on YOU to show up for the community meeting about this project on Tuesday June 15th from 6-8pm via zoom. While there is a larger affordable housing component this time around, the concerns you shared with us last year are still valid for this new development plan. Please show up to the meeting with questions for the developer relating to:
- Housing that is affordable to Bragtown residents.
- Development that doesn’t displace current residents by driving up property taxes and housing prices.
- Green spaces and safe pedestrian walkways that connect Bragtown to parks, grocery stores, libraries, and schools, and helps to alleviate the legacy of under-investment in Black and brown neighborhoods.
- Preserving areas for wildlife and plants, with a focus on environmental justice for Bragtown.
- Involving the community in each step of the process and especially supporting community recommendations that align with the City’s racial equity priorities.
The developers of this land need to hear your voice! Please join us on June 15th for this important community meeting.
