Dear Bragtown residents and Durham neighbors,
After our previous victory with the Durham City County Commissioners, we’ve gotten a lot of attention from local media supporting our fight for equitable development:
- As gentrification marches on, Bragtown is latest Durham community fighting back
- Navigating the Hedge Maze of Out-of-State Money that Owns More of Durham Than Ever
- To Understand How Gentrification in Durham Works, Just Read the Signs
Most importantly, we’ve gotten the attention of the developers that are threatening Bragtown with gentrification and displacement. These developers have pulled their applications from the City Council schedule. It is not clear when they will resume their attempt to make this development happen, but they will try again, and we will need you to again contact City Council and show up to speak at the meeting.
We are staying alert and vigilant, and we will call on you to fight with us once we get more information on the developers’ plans. Please stay tuned, because Bragtown needs your voice.
In solidarity,
Vannessa Mason-Evans
