Support Humboldt having a 501c3 Wolfdog rescue!!!

The Issue

All over the U.S. shelters are required to euthanize wolf/dog hybrids due to the misinformation, misunderstanding, and prejudice towards Wolfdogs. I'm a local toHumboldt County, most other rescues can't take them in for insurance or other reasons, and if the shelter gets them, they are often euthanized for the same legal bylaws. Star Dog Wolf Rescue is a family committed to saving, housing, rehabilitating and finding permanent homes for hybrids. Ashley, the mother of this family, has over 12 years experience with rehabilitating, caring for, and fostering hybrids with low to high content wolf genetics. Hybrids are a popular pet in Northern California, and few rescues are set up to save these animals. A lot of people get them thinking they are getting an animal that looks like a wolf, but will act like a dog because it is raised by people. This often times ends up badly for both the animal, and people, and things like containment, proper socailization, and proper training are often overlooked by uneducated first time hybrid owners. There is currently no rescue accepting hybrids in Humboldt, and these animals need a knowledgeable place with experienced people when displaced. Most hybrids that are in need won't live to see age 2, often times being dumped or dropped off at shelters when they get the neighbors cat or chicken,or get to breeding age and haven't been neutered...when they naturally want to start testing dominance.....or when a female hasn't been spayed and starts running off to try to find a mate. Our mission is to give these animals a second chance, by working with other local organizations, vets, shelters, and owners to avoid them having to be displaced in the first place through education and referal, and spay and neuter assistance, and outreach to the public on these beautiful creatures. Please, sign the petition, and help SDWR become a 501c3.
