First of all thank you for signing and a belated Happy New Year to you.
Don’t fret, I am going to tackle the bad news first. Yesterday (Thu 3rd January) when I arrived at the car park to go to Sunny Dhanda's shop in Bockhanger Square I saw about half-a-dozen vans and a mini-digger. These appeared to be UK power network/company vans. A number of power network/company workers were there, and whilst I was in the shop some of them were given access to the community centre by a council officer. Sadly it appears that I witnessed the start of the process of demolishing the old community centre that has served local people for over 50 years. So that’s the bad news.
We knew this would happen and it just reinforces the need for our petition to secure a cast-iron commitment from Ashford Borough Council for a new bigger and better community centre.
The good news is that despite starting the petition around the time many people were hitting peak Christmas there are now well over 150 people including you that have signed the petition, and it’s picking up pace now we have started the New Year. We have to get 1,500 signatures to guarantee a debate in Ashford Borough Council and this is our target (yes it's a biggy). Don’t be discouraged, together we can do this. 150 signatures is obviously a tenth of what we need but if we share the petition as much as possible and get the word out then this is really going to help. Rest assured I am out pounding the streets distributing flyers about the petition and I am also building up the public profile of the petition in many other ways.
I still very much need your continued help. Please do share this petition as widely as possible with friends, family, and everyone you possibly can. Sharing on Facebook, Email, WhatsApp, and everywhere else, will all help us to reach our target of 1,500 signatures.
Thank you for your continued support, please keep sharing this petition.
All the best,
Diccon
