Despite all the men & women who wrote into them online questioning their choice, close to 8000 of your signatures on my Change.org petition, the hubris ridden Delhi AAP government hosted their Mayur Utsav show of arrogance & in fact even felicitated this serial predator. These politicians of convenience believe that more people in their country & vote bank are OK with the assault on women’s dignity & safety than not. They believe that most people in Delhi are likely to laud Kailash Kher’s behaviour as ‘normal’ ‘manly’ ‘macho’ & not perverted. Simple as that.

This belief isn’t going to last though. This is only the beginning of change.

The good news is that the turnout in the show was low. Many people actually listened in to us & boycotted the show. Videos of empty chairs were uploaded on Twitter.

Such governments will find their hubris costly in the days to come & that I’m sure of. People who matter have listened in. This was the day Nirbhaya was born after all. The irony of this celebration of shamelessness will not be forgotten by people who matter.

This good fight doesn't end with raising our voices just once. It has to be raised consistently, and continuously, and in an untiring manner. Thank you all for being part of the woke collective that cares to fight the good fight. All the good that the world has seen in history has come from such fights & people like you who care to do the right thing.
