The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) hosted a virtual roundtable discussion today with artists & creators of ALL KINDS to help FTC staff better understand the impact generative artificial intelligence (genAI) is having on the creative fields, along with it’s impact on open and fair competition which is enabling unlawful business practices across markets.  You can WATCH the webcast hearing at the link below.  A copy of the meeting agenda can also be found there.

FTC Chair Lina M. Khan provided opening remarks to kick off the event, followed by remarks from FTC Commissioner Rebecca Kelly Slaughter, and OT Madeleine Varner.  Their remarks were followed by a roundtable discussion with representatives from a variety of creative fields.  The listening session focused on different issues posed by the use of genAI in entertainment and other content; including concerns raised by musicians, actors, artists, authors and other content creators.
