Save The Number 1 Bus Service in MK

MK Council have confirmed that the Number 1 Bus which serves MK including Bletchley and Newport Pagnell is being cancelled by Arriva in the daytime from 29/10. The No1 is used by many children, students and adults to get to school, college and work every single day. For reasons known only to Arriva they are cancelling the No1 at peak times and merging the route with the Number 2- 45 minutes from Green Park to get to MK Station. Around 22 children or more use the Number 1 to get to school every morning their journey will be much longer-for example from Willen the journey is doubled from 15 mins to 30- the No2 service can be unreliable at times and will be under even more pressure. Children who go to schools in Newport Pagnell such as Portfields Primary School currently take the Number 2 every morning and they will be crammed in with the Ousedale students when the new No2 service begins. The No1 is extremely packed already and many students going to Ousedale may not be able to board. Important to note- many older people across MK use these buses- they may need to stand or possibly not be able to take their usual bus if it has been cancelled- at times people also need to use wheelchairs and pushchairs. In the opposite direction a bus full of students will be going to MK College. If the new service is approved the buses will be very overcrowded. If Arriva keeps the buses the same, everything will run smoothly and everyone will get to their destinations on time. Please sign and share with as many people as possible. Thank you.
