Please come to Thursday's School Board Meeting and Ask Them to Fund Every Seat

Thank you very much for adding your names to this petition -- your voices and emails are being heard! Please come to tomorrow night’s school board meeting and tell the School Board to fund every seat and not overcrowd our schools!
The Arlington Public School Board has now released its own draft CIP. This CIP still relies on trailers and, according to last night’s work session, does not fund at least 375 of the high school seats we will need.
Why aren’t we funding every high school seat?
The School Board may ask the County Board for money for elementary school seats, but not for land and money to build a school big enough for all the high school seats we will need. And if Arlington Tech does not grow as fast as the School Board hopes (from 43 seats next year to 800 seats in 5-7 years), we will need even more high school seats at the new school.
The current CIP also does nothing to address the increased high school population’s need for resources like fields and band space, leaving more and more students to compete for the same number of spots.
You may be a little tired of hearing calls to attend meetings and push for changes to the CIP, but this is the time to take notice and make your voice heard. The CIP process is coming to a close. The School Board and County Board are listening, so please tell them what you want.
Please attend tomorrow's (Thursday) School Board meeting at 7:30 pm. You can even speak to the school board for 2 minutes about building a high school:
1 Where: 1426 North Quincy Street, Board Room, 1st floor. Wear a black shirt to show your support for another Arlington high school – we’ll be passing out ribbons, too.
2 Speak for 2 minutes about what you want the School Board to do and the need to plan now for the high school crisis in 10 years. Sign up before 4pm TODAY to speak: http://www.apsva.us//cms/module/selectsurvey/TakeSurvey.aspx?SurveyID=1398 (we are a non-agenda item, so write in that you will speak on high school capacity)
3 Like our Facebook page and share your stories: Visit our Facebook page, Arlington Citizens for Responsible School Planning
Share your stories, and your children’s stories, about the impacts of crowding you’re already feeling – the School Board needs to remember that education is about students, not just seats!
Thank you!
PS: Please also share this petition with your Arlington friends and ask them to sign and comment: We’re close to 1,000 names - but we need you to be sure the School Board and the County Board hear us. https://www.change.org/p/arlington-county-board-aps-should-build-new-high-school-space-not-make-schools-bigger-and-double-shift-students?recruiter=550779836&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=share_email_responsive
