School Start Times to Be Discussed at Next Board Meeting

Start School Later Arlington, TN
Apr 6, 2017
** Call to action! ** We have learned that the ACS Board of Education will be voting on potentially delaying the start time at AHS! This issue will be discussed at the next board meeting on Tuesday, April 25th at 6:30pm. Using the email links provided below, please immediately send an email or letter to each board member (see email addresses provided below) indicating your support for healthy school start times, as recommended by the CDC, American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. If you would like a sample form letter, please email me at vmcrabtree@gmail.com, and I will send one to you. The board is likely to be extra sensitive to their constituents' concerns because this is an election year. It is our understanding that the board members have not heard from many who are in support of a later start time at AHS. Now is the time to take action. If you are able to commit right now to offering up 2 minutes of your time to speak at the beginning of the board meeting during the citizens' comments portion, please comment below so we can get in touch with you. Jill Yelland and I have spoken at many board meetings over the last 18 months, and we need more voices so that we are more than a statistic. We cannot let our chance to make such a positive impact on our children's health pass us by. Remember, the survey conducted by ACS last year found that a majority of parents are IN FAVOR of healthy start times, but this finding was glossed over last year. Thank you in advance for any email, text or letter you are able to send. Send all support of healthy start times to: dale.viox@acsk-12.org kay.williams@acsk-12.org kevin.yates@acsk-12.org barbara.fletcher@acsk-12.org danny.young@acsk-12.org
