Petition updateEnd the Pig/Sheep Race2019 Race to go ahead
CIARA FITZGERALDArklow, Ireland
Jul 13, 2019

Hello everyone, and unfortunately more bad news this year, the race is still going ahead on Sunday 21st July at 4pm. The committee just won't change their minds, which I find utterly appalling. With almost 11,500 signatures on this petition, with over 250 comments on their own FB page (which they deleted) all asking for the race to be dropped, they just won't back down. TD's have asked them to drop the race, local Councillors have asked them to drop the race, the head of the ISPCA asked them to drop the race, but they are vision-less, stubborn and they prefer the cruelty to remain. I don't know what else to do, but keep fighting.

The 5 piglets this year, will again be subject to blaring music, crowds of drunks and revelers, 25 degree heat if the weather is anything to go by today, and forced to race through the street 5 times, with no water if last year is any indication of how they respect these poor animals.

If you would like to contact the committee you can do so on info@arklowseabreezefestival.ie. They won't reply to you, they haven't yet to the many many people who have gotten in touch with them, but email anyway. Be polite, and straight to the point, let them know how you feel. Thank you to each and everyone of you decent people who have signed and shared this petition and as always, I'll keep you up to date with any changes or indeed, even like this year, when there is no change. Animal abuse is not ok....lets keep fighting.
