Prevent State Senator Rebecca Petty from restricting last meals for death row inmates.
The Issue
In 2011 a Texas death row inmate refused to eat his last meal, and State Senator John Whitmire in response demanded that the tradition be ended. Because of this Texas inmates are no longer offered last meals before execution.
Right now Arkansas State Senator Rebecca Petty has proposed a similar bill to restrict last meals to foods within the prison. While we can all sympathize with Senator Petty's tragic loss of her daughter, at the hands of a man she knew and trusted. Nonetheless, it is not an excuse to restrict people's rights, even of those who committed reprehensible crimes.
This petition will be sent to the Arkansas Governor and both houses of Congress. Sign to show that you do not support Senator Petty's decision.
