Help Us Get PASSE To Change So Children Aren’t Forced Out Of Their Drs Clinic
The Issue
Arkansas Legislature signed a bill into law that changed how the most vulnerable and high needs patients in the state would recieve their medical care, therapies, and mental health care. They are managed care organizations and are called PASSEs.
Negotiate a contract so children aren’t being forced out of their Drs offices and placed somewhere else because they refuse to compromise or negotiate. To allow medical coverage so they can continue seeing their Dr. To think about the children’s best interest.
Tonight I took a stand not only for our son but for other children with behavioral health issues, that have therapies, and that have special needs. This is discrimination at its finest. The state of Arkansas decided to choose which patients were to be removed. Pretty much the kids that are the most vulnerable and have higher needs are removed. But yet my other son can continue to go to his doctor but my special needs child cannot because they decided (they as in the state of Arkansas) and took it upon themselves to deny my son and remove him from his own doctors office that he has been going to for almost 9 years! But they expect me to up and move him somewhere else. The only doctors office that he is comfortable going to. It took me almost 7 years to get him to where we are today!! His doctor has been the most supportive, kind, and caring Dr to our son and not just him but our family. He knows Daton and his needs. He knows his history, knows our family, and is really the only doctor Daton will see. As many know Daton has certain diagnoses that make it harder for him. Not only is this going to affect our family but it’s going to affect our son tremendously. If any of you have a special needs child or a child with behavioral issues then you would understand to a degree. No child or family should have to deal with this. But until this is fixed we are left with no choice but to pay out of pocket for his doctors visits because we will not be forced to move our child. I wrote the Arkansas Senator and Arkansas House of Representative. I’m our sons voice and I will be heard.
**Just so it’s clear. This is in NO way the Drs offices fault. They have been amazing and doing what they can.**
