My name is Jason, and I’m part of the Civic Engagement Team at Change.org. Our mission is to connect petition supporters with decision makers and to help foster healthy civic engagement in our communities.
I spoke with the office of County Chair Mary Mallory regarding concerns about Arizona state park pass prices. They clarified that because this is a state park system issue, local officials (including the county) are not the direct decision makers on the price changes raised in the petition.
That said, they did elevate that your local representatives can still play an important role: when they hear clearly and respectfully from constituents, they can relay those concerns and priorities to the appropriate state-level officials and agencies.
If this matters to you, consider:
- Share your feedback with your local representative and ask them to pass it along to their contacts at the state level.
- Reach out to your state legislators and ask them to take action, find your State Legislator here: https://www.azleg.gov/findmylegislator/
- Share feedback directly to the Arizona Park & Trails using this form: https://azstateparks.com/contact-us
When sharing your feedback, be respectful and specific — let them know how pricing affects your family’s ability to access parks, why affordability matters, and what you’d like them to consider.
This helps ensure the right decision makers see both the petition and the real-world impact behind it.
We hope this update was helpful,
Jason and the Civic Engagement Team
