Agent Orange Memorial Site Approval Request
I'm sharing the form letter below specially prepared for supporters of this petition. It's purpose is to encourage members of the Layton City Council to consider providing the Utah Agent Orange Veterans Foundation authorization to locate their Agent Orange Memorial in Layton Commons Park.

Subject: Agent Orange Memorial Site Approval
Dear Councilors Roberts, Thomas, Morris, Smith Edmondson, and Bloxham,
I’m reaching out to you regarding the 'Approve Agent Orange Memorial in Layton Commons Park' petition at

For more than one year now, the Utah Agent Orange Veterans Foundation (UAOVF) has been diligently raising funds throughout the entire Beehive State for the purpose of building a memorial to honor the sacrifice of Vietnam veterans who have died from their exposure to Agent Orange, an extremely toxic herbicide used extensively by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War.
That memorial is in its final stages of completion and the date of its planned dedication is Veterans Day 2025. There are still some donations that are needed to build the memorial and city council approval for its location in Layton Commons Park has not yet been obtained by the UAOVF.
On February 20, 2025,
Larry Kerr, chairman of the UAOVF, passionately addressed members of the Layton City Council as he was flanked by supporters from a number of prominent veterans organizations. At that time, Larry pointed out some very practical reasons why Layton Commons Park is an extremely advantageous and appropriate site for the Agent Orange memorial.
I hope you agree with the rationale put forth by Larry Kerr in February and seriously consider authorizing the UAOVF to locate their memorial in Layton Commons Park.
