We the undersigned wish to withdraw the proportion of our council tax used to fund the Gypsy horse fair held in Appleby each summer.

The fair costs tax payers £230000, which is funded via taxes including our council tax. This needs to stop and our council tax reduced accordingly.  The fair should be an organised ticketed event with proceeds used to cover ALL costs.

We also demand that Appleby town council manages the hill, rather than renting to a traveller for a minimum fee, the traveller sublets and takes the profit. The money raised should be increased accordingly & used cover the cost of running the fair to make it better for the local people. Any profit to be invested into the community.
