Dear MacBook Butterfly Keyboard Petition Signatories,
News recently broke of a proposed settlement in the MacBook Butterfly Keyboard class action lawsuit. Apparently, class members may be eligible for financial compensation, and anyone curious may follow this link to learn how to participate.
Our petition was launched with one, clear demand: for Apple to recall all MacBooks equipped with butterfly keyboards and replace those keyboards with new, different, working keyboards. Apple's bogus repair program was obviously insufficient given that it replaced a defectively-designed butterfly keyboard with yet another defectively-designed butterfly keyboard. Many signatories to this petition have stated that they experienced two, three, even four or more butterfly keyboard replacements and they keep failing.
Obviously, the settlement does not satisfy our original demand for a recall and replacement with a new keyboard design.
Does the proposed cash payout in the class action lawsuit settlement adequately address the harm that was done?
Take a look at the amount of money you would be eligible to receive, which is stated on the FAQ of the settlement page under "8. Who can get money from the Settlement, and how much?" It's apparently as little as $50 or even less, up to a maximum of $395, depending on the type and number of repairs that were performed on your MacBook as well as the total number of claims within the Settlement Class.
