Castillo was arrested on February 12, 2017 in Sta. Quiteria, Caloocan City. Led by Bayan Metro Manila and the Free Ferdinand Castillo Movement, the groups will slam President Duterte over his failed campaign promise to release all political prisoners and the intensified attacks against progressive groups and continuing arrests of activists and NDFP consultants. The latest of the victim of the illegal arrest is NDFP consultant and labor leader, Rafael Baylosis last January 31. The groups will also announce their participation in a giant rally on February 24 in time for the anniversary of EDSA People Power 1. After the gathering and press conference at the Loreto Church, they will hold a Unity Walk going to Mendiola. Marchers will wear 100 faces of Castillo to depict that everyone can be like Castillo that is prone to illegal arrest under the Duterte presidency. Also in line with the recent updates on the International Criminal Court investigation against President Duterte, protesters will put Duterte inside a mock jail in Mendiola to symbolize their condemnation to Duterte’s dictatorial and tyrannical rule. #FreeFerdinandCastillo
