Appeal to Perodua: Protect QV-E Pioneer Owners Following the RM10,000 Malaysia Day Rebate
The Issue
To: YBhg. Dato' Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad
President and Chief Executive Officer, Perodua
Dear Dato' Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad and the Perodua Management Team,
We, the pioneer community of Perodua QV-E owners, write to you as early adopters who proudly supported Perodua’s vision for a transition to electric mobility in Malaysia.
The recent announcement of an RM10,000 Malaysia Day promotional rebate for the QV-E is a strong move for market penetration. However, structurally, this sudden pricing adjustment drastically and disproportionately impacts the immediate residual value of the vehicles purchased by your pioneer customers.
Perodua has previously set the gold standard for corporate integrity in the Malaysian automotive industry. During the official June price restructuring, management proactively protected early buyers with a structured refund. While we recognize that a festive promotional rebate operates under different internal financial mechanisms than an MSRP revision, the financial penalty on your most loyal early adopters remains exactly the same.
We are formally appealing to Perodua management to extend a reciprocal gesture of goodwill to the initial cohort of QV-E owners. To ensure this resolution is mutually beneficial and financially viable for Perodua, we propose compensation through high-value ecosystem benefits, such as comprehensive service credit packages, extended battery assurance programs, or subsidized charging solutions.
Our goal is to ensure the early adopters remain Perodua’s strongest brand advocates in the EV space. We look forward to a constructive dialogue and a favorable resolution.
Sincerely,
The Perodua QV-E Pioneers Coalition
