Dear Fellow Kembangan resident neighbours,

First of all, thank you all for signing the petition.

When the news about the Kembangan development plan first came out, I (just like others) was disappointed to lose the vast open field in our neighbourhood that we have all come to cherish.  I was also concerned because there was no clarity about what type of development it would be as there was no clarity in the first ST report.

In addition to this petition, I had sent an email to the Ministers to share the feedback and concerns and also let them know about the petition.  I understand there was also another petition signed by group of seniors who workout every day morning at the CC.

URA and HDB reached out to me and addressed my concerns via email.  They even offered to meet in person but unfortunately due to my time constraints I couldn't go to meet them in person.

The final plan shared by URA / HDB for the Kembangan development is excellent as:

(1) It keeps the whole area open for all Kembangan residents as there will not be a  private development in that plot;

(2) Kembangan residents will get excellent integrated facilities that will house not only the CC but other facilities such as a Gym, clinic etc.

(3) We will still have some open space in the place where the current CC building stands

(4) More importantly there will be enough supply of 2-room flexi units in that development (in addition to BTO flats) - which gives options for residents to move or help move their children nearby etc.

I wish to thank both URA (Director) & HDB (Acting Director) public service officers for addressing the concerns that I communicated and also for acknowledging some specific feedback that I have given.
