Hoy queremos hacerlos partícipes de una declaración histórica para los animales en América Latina.
El 10 de septiembre de 2026, durante la Jornada sobre Derecho Animal y Ambiental, celebrada en la Honorable Legislatura del Chubut, más de 20 reconocidos jueces, fiscales y referentes nacionales firmaron la Declaración de Chubut sobre la personalidad jurídica de los animales no humanos, un documento histórico que declara la necesidad de reconocer legalmente a los animales no humanos como seres sintientes y sujeto de derecho, y solicita a los poderes del Estado a nivel nacional que los consideren de esta manera.
La Declaración de Chubut fue impulsada por la ONG SINTIENTES junto a la fiscal jefe Florencia Gómez, de la Unidad Fiscal Especializada en Ambiente y Delitos contra Animales (UFE-AyDA).
Este paso histórico está alineado con la Declaración de Cambridge (Reino Unido, 2012), la Declaración de Toulon (Francia, 2019) y la Declaración de Buenos Aires (UNLZ, 2024).

THE CHUBUT DECLARATION ON THE LEGAL PERSONALITY OF NON-HUMAN ANIMALS HAS BEEN PROCLAIMED IN ARGENTINA!
Hello, dear community! How are you?
Today, we want to share with you a historic declaration for animals in Latin America.
On September 10, 2026, during the Animal and Environmental Law Conference held at the Honorable Legislature of Chubut, more than 20 renowned judges, prosecutors, and national experts signed the Chubut Declaration on the legal personality of non-human animals. This historic document declares the need to legally recognize non-human animals as sentient beings and subjects of rights, and calls on the national branches of the State to recognize them as such.
The Chubut Declaration was initiated by the NGO SINTIENTES together with Chief Prosecutor Florencia Gómez, from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Unit for Environmental and Animal Crimes (UFE-AyDA).
This historic step is aligned with the Cambridge Declaration (United Kingdom, 2012), the Toulon Declaration (France, 2019), and the Buenos Aires Declaration (UNLZ, 2024).
We thank the authorities and the Governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, for their support, as well as RAFA, the Argentine Network of Environmental Prosecutor’s Offices.
